Marblehead Massachusetts is quaint, coastal community on the edge of the Massachusetts Bay and Salem Harbor. It was founded on fishing and shoe manufacturing. Today it is a residential community "renowned" for its art and culture. Its landscape includes "romantic inns," bed and breakfasts, and 200 homes and mansions that predate the Revolutionary war. Much of the architecture is reminiscent of the 17th and 18th Century when it was built. Neighborhoods with single family homes, apartments and condominiums are spread throughout.
Marblehead has a busy tourism industry. Boats fill the harbor to sail, fish, transport and site see. It has been "called one of the yachting capitals of the world." "Pleasure boating continues to be a national past time. Condominium conversions sit amidst homes, inns, and new developments that now occupy the historic district with fabulous views of the harbor and a college within a quiet prospering community. Condominiums near Auburn Square are convenient to the library, shops, restaurants, the Lane Play House and many small businesses. Strolling or commuting through Marblehead's streets you'll encounter many older buildings, conversions with unique architecture and structures: hard wood floors, balconies and nice views of the harbor. The whole area is steeped in tradition but is now a buzz with popular condo conversions, vacation homes, antique shops, art galleries, craft shops, a variety of restaurants, traditionally family owned boutiques, small businesses, and specialty gift shops. They are scattered throughout the convenient town center for "a distinctive shopping experience." Great views of the harbor highlight conveniently located residences. The area continues a centuries old tradition for accommodating a mix of seafarers, mariners, merchants and craftsman. Condominium in Marblehead, MA are just as plentiful as any place in metro Boston. One and two bedrooms come with less and more square footage. Conversions are hidden behind antique Colonials, Victorians, and two or three story flats with spectacular views of the harbor. Crooked lanes and twisted streets lead you inland to more conversions complete with streamlined kitchens, finished wood cabinets, stainless steel appliances and fixtures, marble counter tops, and large windows with lots of light. Larger condos and multi-level units, have risen as mid rise buildings, two and three level town homes. blening right into period neighborhoods, quiet and unassuming making the most of large back yards., uniquely tiled patios, porches, sun decks and outside dining areas. These units make the most of period brick architecture with wonderful views of the beach, taverns , surrounding homes, light houses, church towers, and a new development or two along the shore. Mid priced and high condos can have one or two bedroom but usually start at three or more. They come complete with dining rooms, living rooms, and great views of the landscape near and far. Most are cozy, warm and inviting, with or without mirrors and windows, open patios, sun decks, more or less space depending on the size of the building and size of the renovation. Marblehead's inventory of town homes, condos or multi-family units have standard amenities with a thousand sq. ft or more. They have the same standard of condos you will find any place else. The buildings can also include elegantly landscaped gardens and outside dining areas. Marblehead is also known for its yachting, sailing and fishing industry on which it was first built. Condos and town homes have become more frequent finds near town center with gorgeous views of the harbor and period neighborhoods. Tourism, small businesses, technology and manufacturing mix to form an economy. Residents employed in these industries commute to Boston and surrounding areas to work. The population isn't growing by leaps and bounds but the number of town homes and condominiums are abundant for a growing number of professionals, families, and investors seeking homes and second homes in a city that was originally established as a resort. Marblehead is becoming a residential area for a growing population to make the most of all year round or as a nearby weekend retreat.
