First settled in 1859, Belmont was made up of a combination of Watertown and West Cambridge. Named after the largest land doner that created the town, John Cushing and his 200 acre Belmont estate, much of it later became a commercial center for Cambridge. The town changed from a farming community to one based on “commercial greenhouse” industry. It later evolved into a commuter suburb and was known for its many well healed residents who came and built homes. Today there are homes, condos multi-family units, town homes, apartments and more.

The residential suburb of Belmont has seen little growth since the 50s. Known as a nice, quiet, residential suburb on the “western corridor of Boston.” Large estates built in the 19th century have kept their character as private residences, few condo conversions if any, but some have been renovated and are condo units and multi-level housing. Belmont Hill is famous for mansions constructed on a hill with less imposing neighborhoods forming around it. Three major commercial centers make up the town: Belmont Center makes up the center, Cushing Square is to the south, and Waverly Square is to the west. The Town Hall, civic buildings, shops, and greenhouse estates from public and public accessible areas around the center: Rock Mead, Habitat ( Audobon, ) portions of the Mclean Hospital grounds and surrounding fields and parks that have also become parts of different neighborhoods.

Many of Belmont’s condos are in quiet, charming neighborhoods, taking up one floor, the second, or the third floor of three story condo conversions in a quiet, older neighborhood that became a subdivision development when trolley routes connected it directly to Boston. Concord Ave. bisects the town from east to west. Common Street and Pleasant Street cross it from north to south. Massachusetts Rt. 2 runs along the border of the town with access to rail and bus lines.  Within these boundaries lies Belmont’s quiet, charming, well kept community with a variety of condominium options. Older converted buildings have been given new life as two, three, or four bedroom condominium conversions as well as new constructions. Many are conveniently located near parks and have similar amenities: spacious back yards, entry foyers, enclosed yards, hard wood floors, large kitchens, dining rooms, high ceilings, bay windows basement storage and many warm picturesque scenes.

Newer condominium developments have been built for buyers seeking more comfort. The Woodlands of Belmont Hill is a unique project that is converting older estates into condos and offering floor plans for custom made condo property as part of the development. Modest one and two bedroom condo units are also available in more modern buildings but for those seeking more comfort, serenity, space and convenience in a managed condominium and town home community The Woodlands will be a new choice in Belmont.

Three or more bedroom options with amenities comparable to private homes will be offered within fifteen minutes from downtown Boston and outlying areas. Of the three other constructions being worked on this is the most lavish. Everything is bigger larger and pricier. They promise custom made kitchens, studies, foyers, dining rooms, two or three car garages, great rooms, bedroom suites and more all in the historic district of Belmont that is known for its unique residences.
